Classic Cars
We have recently completed an installation at one of the UK's Premier Classic car restoration companies. Our brief was to supply a state of the art system that would compliment the high tech surroundings of the companies' workshops and body shop areas.
The original specification called for a compressed air ring main in 1 ¼ " galvanised barrel complete with drop's and multiple take offs. Chelmer advised the client that a 32mm Simplair installation offered the perfect solution for him - high flow, corrosion free, aesthetically perfect for the high tech workshops, and leak free.
To complete the installation we supplied and installed two Ingersoll Rand 15 kw rotary screw compressors complete with receiver dryer and filter, oil water separator and lead lag control. The client is extremely happy with the installation and since completion has added further drops and accessories.
Customer Gains Independence
A major manufacturer of UPVC extrusions for the window replacement and building industry called Chelmer in to discuss their future compressed air requirements.
The company shared their manufacturing site with another company in the same group and also shared the compressed air facility. The compressor installation was in the adjacent site and they effectively 'sold air' to our customer. This arrangement was ok in so far as it went, but both sites had differing priorities, and as our customer had a 24/7 requirement for compressed air they decided to install their own system.
Chelmer put together a proposal that illustrated what was possible given the space and power restraints the site had. Following an extensive survey and audit of all the air operated equipment on site, and taking into account possible further expansion, Chelmer proposed an Ingersoll Rand Variable Frequency Drive 75kw compressor model together with a fixed speed unit of 75kw. Our audit had shown a requirement of between 250 and 330 CFM with occasional peaks 360 CFM. Offering this package gave the customer excellent energy saving options with the comfort of 100% backup.
Whilst discussing the energy saving options Chelmer had identified in their survey that the old 4" steel ring main system was in poor condition and the cause of numerous leaks and therefore increased energy costs. Chelmer recommended a new 63mm aluminium Simplair ring main with drop's to machines in 32mm. Total size of the ring main was over 400 metres.
Our customer gave us the go ahead in December 2003 (a nice Christmas present for our sales team) and installation commenced in February 2004 and the system was commissioned in mid March. Because the old system was left in situ, we were able to work throughout on the project without disrupting manufacturing and when the installation was complete the customer simply shut off the old system and opened the new. Our installation also included supplying and installing the ducting system for the compressors.
Needless to say our customer is delighted with his new, clean, energy efficient, leak free system and it looks superb!
We have already taken a number of potential customers to view the installation, we simply stand back let them admire "the view" and let our delighted customer do the 'selling job' for us.
